Sciatica can cause low back pain accompanied by numbness and tingling down the back of theUnlock Your Hip Flexors 2.0 Review leg into the foot. The sciatic nerve passes very close to the piriformis muscle, which is located on the buttocks. If the piriformis muscle is tight and inflamed, it can put pressure on the sciatic nerve. I have developed a treatment plan that relaxes the piriformis muscle and in turn relieves pressure on the sciatic nerve. This plan involves soft tissue work on the piriformis muscle and stretches to relax the muscle. It is important to make sure that the pelvis and spine are in proper alignment. If the pelvis or spine is not in proper alignment, it can put more stress on the muscles.
Sciatica can also be caused by the nerve being pinched in the low back where it exits the spinal cord. The vertebrae become misaligned on one another. My treatment plan rehabilitates the spine to relieve the pressure on the sciatic nerve. I use a chiropractic manipulation to put the spine back in proper alignment. This allows for the nerve to have more room and relieves pressure on the nerve. The method I use in realigning the spine is called flexion distraction. Flexion distraction is a special form of manipulation that puts the body in the optimum position to relieve pressure on the nerve. This technique also promotes movement of nutrients and fluids into the disc.
The second part of my spinal rehabilitation involves soft tissue work. When the spine is misaligned it causes the muscles to be over contracted and tight. It is important to relax the muscles in order to prevent the spine from becoming misaligned again. The last part of my spinal rehabilitation plan is core strengthening. Many low back pain problems arise from a weak core. If you have a weak core, your back has to over compensate and do the work for your core. By strengthening your core, you no longer rely on your back to do all the work, and you prevent back pain and sciatica from re-occurring.
